How I Spend My Time
I dedicate much of my time outside of work to volunteering in my community. For over a decade I’ve worked closely with many local children’s theaters. I provide and run audio equipment for the performances and have taught at the Washington State Thespian’s Conference. I’m also a coach for the Olympia Robotics Federation, the premier robotics team in the Olympia School District. This was the team I participated on when I was in high school, and we’ve competed at the World Championships six times so far!
I love hobbies, and I would love to hear about yours! I love it when people have something to be passionate about. A few of mine are Drone Racing, Photography, Singing, and working on cars. See some of my favorite photos I’ve taken below.
My Educational Journey
I received my Bachelor’s in Trading & Risk Management from the University of Idaho, with a focus in Entrepreneurship. A few years later, I pursued their online MBA program before starting my own firm. The MBA program was wonderful, I couldn’t recommend the University of Idaho enough. While there, I also went through their vocal performance program, and helped start the Hydroponics Club!
CFA Journey – The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder program is the most difficult journey I’ve ever embarked on. I am so proud to have earned my charter. This exam series took over 3,000 hours of study time over 5 years. The CFA program, in my opinion, is about quality communication, educated decision making, and well documented processes. I pursued what’s called the Private Wealth Pathway, which helped prepare me for the complexities of Financial Planning and curated investment management. Earning my charter helped me develop my ethos for financial principles, and how I want to serve you!
My Career Journey – Why Finance?
My career began at the University of Idaho. During my undergraduate program, I was a member of the Barker Capital Management Group. In this group, we managed a University Endowment, and were also given real-money portfolios to trade commodities and options strategies, supervised by the professors. This opportunity to trade real money was wonderful for the development of my quality control processes. Trading real portfolios was an excellent way to accelerate my education in the space.
After graduating, I began working at a firm called Financial Advocates. There, I was a Portfolio Trader, a Systems Management Analyst, and finally the firm’s Trading Consultant. Across these roles, I worked closely with hundreds of financial advisors to perform trade execution and account monitoring. I also wrote many quality control procedures and processes designed to help advisors stay informed about their businesses. I trained many financial advisors on trading best practices, and gained insights into how many advisors run their practices. There were times that I wanted to do more, or wanted to do things differently, which is when I made the decision to start my own firm.
Zimmerman Wealth Management represents an accumulation of all my experience and education. I built this practice to best serve you!

I coach the Robotics team for the Olympia School District, The Olympia Robotics Federation. In this picture, I’m accepting my nomination for the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award. My students nominated me for this award, which celebrates effective communication & mentorship. The nomination is one of my greatest honors. In 2025, I completed my MBA from the University of Idaho. I also attended U of I for my undergrad in Trading & Risk Management. The professors at U of I gave me so much guidance, and working with the agriculture students to learn commodities trading was the most hardworking group of people I’ve ever been around! My MBA program was entirely online, this photo was the first time I had been on campus in over 6 years.
I occasionally sing with the Olympia Opera Theater! This photo is my mom and I at the Valentine’s Day cabaret performance. This portrait was taken at B&H Photo in NYC! I wanted to include it to share my love of theater. I’ve worked with local children’s community theaters for over 15 years, and love to go to New York every few years to see the latest Broadway Shows. This was a fun day at my prior job, where we filmed a commercial for our program at LPL Headquarters in the TV studio.
One of my longstanding hobbies is FPV (First Person View) Drone Racing! This picture is from my favorite race of the year, the International Open in Muncie, Indiana! This was my favorite team-building event from my prior role, where we rented a catamaran to watch the sunset in San Diego! I loved working on a team, but always knew that I wanted my own firm. A rare genre of photo that I love, pictures of photographers taking pictures of things! This was on a trip to North Carolina. Below, there are some of my favorite photos I’d love to share with you.
This is my favorite photo I’ve ever taken, at Glacier National Park. Seeing an Eagle is automatically the highlight of my day. This is the only one that’s flown close enough for me to photograph, and it was an exciting day! This is one of the only wild owls I’ve ever seen. This guy was just around the corner from my house, he even stayed long enough for me to go home and get the camera! This was the first, and only time that I’ve seen the Northern Lights. I’d love to see them from Alaska one day. This was from the lucky day we had a few years ago where they were visible in Olympia. Pictured is Steamboat Island and Hope Island. This is Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. Shortly after there were dolphins! Even though it’s a simple scene, I was entranced. This is Kirana, a female tiger at the Point Defiance Zoo. Unfortunately, the day after this photo, Kirana was killed by her potential mate. I gave this photo as a gift to all the zookeepers. This is one of the famous Salt River horses outside of Phoenix. My friend and I spent all afternoon looking for them, also discovering why no one goes hiking in Arizona in June! Though I love all my photos, my firework photos are what I’m most proud of. It’s a special method I’ve been using for years, I love how the streaks look like brush strokes.
Let's Talk.
I would love to have a conversation with you, please reach out! Don't feel the need to have all the answers before we talk, this is a safe space to ask questions and learn from each other.
